April this year is a busy time for legislative changes. The highlights for golf club employers are:

From 1 April 2018, the National Minimum Wage rates increased, as well as increases to the rates of statutory maternity pay (SMP), statutory paternity pay (SPP), statutory adoption pay (SAP) and statutory shared parental pay (SSPP) to £145.18 per week. From 9 April, Maternity Allowance also increases to this weekly rate.

From 6 April 2018, there is an increase to the weekly rate of statutory sick pay (SSP) to £92.05. The maximum amount of a week's pay (used for calculating a redundancy payment or for various awards including the unfair dismissal basic award) increases to £508 (from £489)

The maximum limit on the amount of an unfair dismissal compensatory award increases to £83,682 (from £80,541)

The minimum pension contributions (the percentage of a jobholder’s qualifying earnings) for those employers in England & Wales with automatic enrolment schemes increases from 6 April to a 2% minimum contribution for employers (with an overall minimum contribution of 5%).
