In July 2017 we reported that the Supreme Court had removed the requirement for employees to pay a fee in order to issue an employment tribunal claim, with that “fees-free” process still in operation today. The number of claims is expected to rise as a consequence, in a similar way to which they fell when the fees system was introduced in 2013. With no financial barrier to claims being brought by disaffected employees, golf clubs should take great care when handling employment matters, since the chances of a claim are now likely to be far greater.
