The government has announced increases to the compensation limits for employment tribunal awards.
From 6 April 2017, new increased compensation limits for employment tribunal claims will come into force, covering a number of areas of potential claim. Those of most relevance and interest to golf clubs will be a revised figure of £489 (currently £479) for the maximum amount of a week's pay, used for calculating various awards including statutory redundancy payments and unfair dismissal basic awards. The maximum unfair dismissal compensatory award rises to £80,541 (currently £78,962), as does the amount of a maximum guarantee payment, increasing to £27 per day (currently £26) for a lay off situation.
The new limits apply where the 'appropriate date' is on or after 6 April 2017”
